This weekend, on April 4-6, SNORAS Spyker Squadron team belonging to Bankas SNORAS will start its 2008 motor sport season. On Sunday, the team of professional racers with two new Spyker C8 Laviolette GT2R automobiles will compete in the first race of the five round Le Mans Series in Barcelona, Spain.
"Participating in the sport car races is part of the activity of our partners - Spyker Cars N.V., the Dutch manufacturer of deluxe cars. We made investments into this company considering its potential, and one of the first results of our mutual activity - the new Spyker C8 Laviolette GT2R car - was presented at the International Geneva Car Exhibition in the beginning of March. We trust to gain victories with this sport class car in the Le Mans car race and have success while consolidating Spyker Cars N.V. position on the market of the top-class automobiles," Raimondas Baranauskas, the President of Bankas SNORAS, said.
Based on the experience and knowledge gained in the previous races, the Dutch manufacturers have built a brand new Spyker C8 Laviolette GT2R car which will replace the earlier GT2 class sport car Spyker C8 Spyder GT2R. The new racing model has been created by utilizing the newest technologies.
Spyker C8 Laviolette GT2R is distinguished by a much stiffer, rounded aluminium spaceframe with better aerodynamic qualities, upgraded aluminium suspension, improved electrical harnesses, fuel tank, engine and its control system, and an especially ergonomic work zone for the driver.

SNORAS Spyker Squadron team will drive two cars in the Le Mans Series and the 24-Hours of Le Mans races. The pilots Alexey Vasiliev (Russia), Ralf Kelleners (Germany) and Peter Dumbreck (Great Britain) will compete in car number 85. The second car, number 94, will be piloted by the Swiss racers Andrea Chiesa, Benjamin Leuenberger and Philippe Camandona.
One of the most famous sport car races 24-Hours of Le Mans known worldwide will be held in mid-June.
This weekend Le Mans Series will start in Barcelona, Spain. Two one-hour free practice sessions are planned for Friday and a third one is scheduled for Saturday morning. In the afternoon the teams will jointly compete in a qualified session, and the race will begin on Sunday and will be aired live by MotorsTV. Moreover, this year an agreement was made for broadcasting Le Mans car races via Eurosport channel. The competitions in Spain will be followed by the round on Monza trek, Italy, and on Spa-Francorchamps trek, Belgium. The last two rounds will be held in Nurburgring, Germany, in August and in Silverstone, United Kingdom. New in Le Mans Series this year is that one round will be held on 1000 km Shanghai trek in China.
